CUSTOMIZATION IS CRITICAL TO LEARNER ENGAGEMENT

At O.C. Willis, students participate in a comprehensive program to develop individualized learning plans that define, not only their time at school, but also ignite their imagination for learning in all environments. A team of professionals works together to ensure that instruction begins at just the right level, learning is paced to each student’s targeted needs, students have control over their educational journey, and decisions that guide the next steps are data-driven. Learning technology helps students and faculty to achieve goals and customize learning in a way that considers the whole child. Pedagogically and research-based intelligent adaptive learning technology tools help the Willis community access and stay in the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) for each learner. This commitment to monitoring each student means that the right lesson at the right level of difficulty is provided at the right time; thereby creating an optimal learning zone. Students are encouraged to think and strategize in ways they can apply in school and in other life experiences.
